Choose Your Friends Wisely, OWS

Choose Your Friends Wisely, OWS

Yesterday, The Blaze posted an article talking about the current supporters of the Occupy Wall Street movement.  As all good moms around the world know regarding their kids, the company they keep tends to mold them into who they will be also.

Maybe the organizers (?) and participants of Occupy Wall Street should consider this too when receiving endorsements from a litany of ill willed organizations and individuals and either heartily embrace these supporters, or make sure the rest of the world knows they want nothing to do with them.

The list is extremely troubling and continues to grow.  I’ll reproduce here for your convenience a list of those who’ve given support in one way or another to OWS.  A link to the original page with references about these organizations and their support of OWS is also included, HERE.

  • Communist Party USA
  • The American Nazi party
  • Revolutionary Communist Party
  • Black Panthers
  • Nation of Islam’s Louis Farrakhan
  • CAIR
  • Marxist Student Union
  • Party for Socialism and Liberation
  • Socialist Party USA
  • US Border Guard
  • Industrial Workers of the World
  • Anonymous
  • White Revolution
  • 9/11Truth.org
  • Freedom Road Socialist Organization
  • ANSWER
  • President Barack Obama
  • Vice President Joe Biden
  • Nancy Pelosi
  • Press TV (Iranian government outlet)
  • Iran’s Supreme Leader, the Ayatollah Khamenei
  • Hugo Chavez
  • International Bolshevik Tendancy
  • Revolutionary Guards of Iran
  • The Government of North Korea
  • Communist Party of China
  • Hezbollah
Come on.  Think through this stuff.  If you’re a hard working individual who gets up every day and goes to a job that you may or may not love to support yourself and your family, you are NOT the 99%.  You’re doing what’s right and what needs to be done to give your family a good life.  When your friends and co-workers ask you if you’re a supporter of OWS, hopefully you’ve thought through that answer a little bit and not just fallen into the group that thinks, “Yeah!  These protesters are fighting the good fight.  Good on em.  Count me in.”  Remember the list of people and organizations that want to see this movement succeed.  They definitely don’t want the best for you or your family and they’ll do whatever they can to make sure they get what they feel they’re entitled to.  Are you sure you’re a supporter?

Finally, Some Common Sense on Occupy Wall Street

Finally, Some Common Sense on Occupy Wall Street

Thanks, Dave Ramsey for calling the movement what it is… those of us working hard for our money are tired of the whiners and thieves trying to use the government to rip us off.  For those of you who think the movement is actually about something else, well, why don’t you speak up and start denying what the masses are actually calling for.  Until then, OWS, you’re dismissed.

My Neighbor, Steve Jobs

I came across a great article this morning written by someone who lived in the same neighborhood as Steve Jobs and knew and appreciated him in a different capacity than most of us.  The most important things he left behind aren’t necessarily the iPods, the iPhones, and the iPads he’s so revered for.  Steve Jobs was a good man, a good husband, and a good father.  Those I think were probably more important than everything.  You’ll be missed Steve.

If not for Obama’s Race We’d Protest?

This is absolutely ludicrous.  And nobody in the mainstream media seems to care.  All you Obama saps don’t seem to care either that this President continues to get a free pass on his utter failures.  And now, the Congressional Black Caucus sings racism from the streets and nobody cares.

Yesterday, Rep. Emmanuel Cleave, the caucus chairman said, ”If Bill Clinton had been in the White House and had failed to address this problem, we probably would be marching on the White House.”

http://news.yahoo.com/obama-tells-blacks-stop-complainin-fight-015928905.html

So, if he hadn’t been a black brother, you wouldn’t have given him a pass and would have done the responsible thing which is to show your displeasure with his current policies?  To give him a pass because of his color (what year is this?!) is irresponsible and furthering the negative effects of racism!  I don’t care what color the president is.  People need to get over that.  I do care what direction he’s taking the country and if I’m a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, I’m marching on the White House right now to show him that no one deserves a pass: not President Clinton, not President Bush, not President Obama.

Good grief.

UPDATE:

The same goes for Morgan Freeman, who I respect immensely as an actor, but with his most recent comments dropped way down in my list of favorites.  He basically says in an interview with Piers Morgan that the Tea Party will do whatever they can to, “… get this black man out of office.”

Wait.  Do you think it might have anything to do with policy, Morgan?  Nah.  If the Tea Party wants someone out of office, it’s obviously because of their skin color.  So, what do you say about Herman Cain, then?  You do consider him black, right?  I’m pretty sure the Tea Party members at least highly respect if not seriously consider him a viable candidate for the Presidency since he just won the Florida straw poll by a landslide.

Why do these actors and caucus members continue to get air time after going off the rails with remarks like this?  I’m sure that would disqualify any member of the GOP or any supporter of the Republican party from EVER getting any respect on air again if they made any assertion about a candidate based on their race.  Come on, when will these people be held accountable for their words spoken on air?

PARTIAL TRANSCRIPT of the Morgan Freeman interview below.  Full text can be found here: http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1109/23/pmt.01.html

MORGAN: Has Obama helped the process of eradicating racism? Or has it in a –

FREEMAN: I don’t think…

MORGAN: … strange way, made it worse?

FREEMAN: Made it worse. Made it worse. Look at the — look — the Tea Partiers — who are controlling the Republican party, their stated policy, publicly stated, is to do whatever it takes to see to it that Obama only serves one term. What’s — what does that — what underlines that? Screw the country. We’re going to do whatever we need to do to get this black man — we can — we’re going to do whatever we can to get this black man out of here.

MORGAN: But it’s not necessarily a racist–

FREEMAN: It is a racist thing.

MORGAN: Is it not just Republicans — wouldn’t they say that about any Democratic president?

FREEMAN: No, because they would have gotten rid of Bill Clinton if they could have.

MORGAN: And they tried.

FREEMAN: They tried, but still, I don’t — anyone’s — they’re not going to get rid of Obama. I think they’re shooting themselves in the hip (ph).

MORGAN: Does it unnerve you that the Tea Party are gaining such traction?

FREEMAN: Yes.

MORGAN: Why?

FREEMAN: Yes. Well, it just shows the weak, dark underside of America. We’re supposed to be better than that. We really are. That’s why all those people were in tears when Obama was elected president. Look at what we are. Look at how — this is America. You know? And then it just sort of started turning, because these people surfaced (ph), like stirring up muddy water.

Right Now Doesn’t Mean, Right Now

Disciples of Jesus

One of my favorite authors, Donald Miller, wrote a short blog entry a few months back about the characteristics of a disciple of Jesus, and I just thought for those of you who haven’t read it yet, it’s definitely worth a read.

http://donmilleris.com/2011/03/29/ten-characteristics-of-a-disciple/

This really resonates with me because as I continue to grow in my relationship with God, I question a lot of the time whether I’m really as worthy as the next guy, or the girl singing on stage at church, or the pastor, or the friend who spends two hours praying every morning before he leaves his house… and most times I feel like giving up cause I’ll never “catch up” to his or her spiritual maturity.  I love being reminded after reading thoughts like this, that yeah, maybe I do have a chance after all.

Mrs. Obama’s $10m Vacations

As an update to my recent post about Mrs. Obama’s stellar fiscal responsibility, this year alone, we’ve got her spending $10m dollars of our taxpayer money on her vacations!!! She should get kudos for being so responsible with our money.  I’m glad she’s had such an awesome year.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2029615/Michelle-Obama-accused-spending-10m-public-money-vacations.html

On the other hand, wait a sec… this is actually sickening to my stomach and should be to yours as well.  Why do people turn a blind eye to this stuff?  Vacations to Spain with her 40 friends? $50,000/week property rentals?

Mrs. Obama: your husband’s winning of the election in 2008 and your becoming First Lady means you get to set an ideal for the rest of American women on how to live a respectable life.  Unfortunately you seem to think you’ve won the Publisher’s Clearinghouse Sweepstakes.  Except, we Americans are footing your bill. Outrageous.

Dialing back the rhetoric?

Last week Rick Perry made national news when he criticized the Fed Chairman, The Ben Bernanke, and his easy money policies.  He made a statement saying that it would be treacherous, if not treasonous, to print more money between now and the next election.  He also said that he wasn’t sure how they’d treat him in Iowa, but that he’d be treated “pretty ugly” down in Texas.

http://articles.latimes.com/2011/aug/16/news/la-pn-rick-perry-treason-react-20110816

Apparently a few people were uncomfortable with these remarks and read between the lines to interpret those statements meaning that if Bernanke made his way down to Texas we’d kill him.  That definitely takes some pretty good reading between the lines to come to that assumption.

However, Obama was so uncomfortable with these words that he then issued a threat to Rick Perry saying, “… this time I’ll cut him some slack” indicating that next time there would be consequences for Perry’s free speech.

This week, I’m waiting for Obama to play by his own rules and deal with Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters since she’s been a politician for a while now and is obviously past the period of being cut slack.  She should know by now to watch her words when speaking in public.

On Saturday in Inglewood, CA, Ms. Waters said, “I’m not afraid of anybody.  This is a tough game.  You can’t be intimidated.  You can’t be frightened.  And as far as I’m concerned–the Tea Party can go straight to hell.”

http://dailycaller.com/2011/08/21/maxine-waters-the-tea-party-can-go-straight-to-hell/

I know it might take a while to read between those lines, but surely it’s inappropriate for a congresswoman to make remarks like that in public?  Or are just the presidential candidates held to such a high standard?
